Prerequisites

This course is to be taken by CBN honors in their senior Spring semester.

Course Description

This course aims to help students developing skills in presenting scientific data and critiquing scientific literature. Selected papers on current topics in cell biology and neuroscience will be assigned for critical literature evaluation. The course emphasizes on assessing the validity of author conclusions, appropriateness of research methodologies and controls, quality of experimental data and overall organization and comprehensibility of journal papers. Upon the completion of this course, the students are expected to be able to summarize, integrate and critically analyze information using scientific reasoning.

Consistent with those set by the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience, as well as the Division of Life Sciences at Rutgers University

Exams, Assignments, and Grading Policy

Students will be graded on their take-home and in-class assignments, oral presentations and participation in class discussions.
